About the exhibition
You
are invited to the sensational touristic attraction of
Much more than a mere museum or bunker, this exhibition illustrates in the original surroundings the ambiance of the tragic final days of World War II, and later, the chill and naïveté of the early days of the Cold War. Few other exhibition brings you so close to the true feeling of that era.
Towards
the end of World War II (December ’44 until February ’45), the Soviet troops
encircled Budapest and its final defence area, the Castle District. There,
within its walls and beneath, the last functioning
Later, in the Cold War era, authorities extended the hospital to
serve as
an atomic bunker, installing facilities that could help those
inside
to survive a nuclear attack. Classified
as
“Top Secret”, one can still see the up-to-date machinery of the early
‘60s; all
of which have been preserved and can still function today.
To
recreate the feeling, the exhibition displays much of the original and
contemporary
artifiacts in diaoramas with over 70 wax figures, further bringing to
life the
sights that one might have seen when the Hospital and shelter were
operational.
Welcome to the largest waxwork exhibition in Central Europe.

WW II. Hospital: 30 minutes. Visits the military hospital area including the operating theatre, the wardrooms and military surgery exhibition.

Történelmi játékok, „incentiv”
programok -
a kórházzal,
1945, 1956 és a hidegháború időszakával kapcsolatos vetélkedők,
"kincskereső" keresési játékok, csoportos feladatok, akadályversenyek.
Vetélkedjenek kémcsapatok egymással, vegyenek részt érdekes
egészségügyi, hadi és polgári védelmi játékokban kollégáink
segítségével. Az interaktív program során a vezetők korhű ruhában
irányítják a programot megelevenítve a kórházat. Garantáltan
felejthetetlen élmény.
„Atomcsapás” extrém program:
Lehetőség van „eljátszani” a polgári védelmi protokollt, melyet
atomcsapás esetén kellett volna a személyzetnek végrehajtania a
kórházban. Mindez természetesen szakmai alapismertetővel és vezetéssel
lehetséges. A program magában foglalja az ismertető után a riasztást,
gázálarc és egyéni védőfelszerelés kipróbálását, bezsilipelést, majd a
mentesítés folyamatát. A 40 évvel ezelőtti infrastruktúrában túlélési
stratégiát kell egyeztetni, megszervezni a következő 72 óra
tennivalóit, gondoskodni a csapat elhelyezéséről, élelmezéséről, majd a
várható helyzetekre felkészülni. Csapatok vetélkedhetnek egymással. A
program hossza igény szerint 2-5 óra. E-mailen kérhet árajánlatot.

Only the “Hospital in the Rock” and “House of Terror” offer you a glimpse of life during the tumultuous events of 1945 and 1956. The Sziklakorhaz, rather than focusing on the horror commemorates the self-sacrifice of the doctors and nurses of the 2nd World War – and the Civil Preparedness at the start of the Cold War.
For us, dedicated to the wanting to keep the past alive, we endeavour to expand and improve our knowledge, the exhibits and relate its the history. The institute was top secret until 2002 accordingly the research of its history had just begun.

B. Endre: Though
visiting brought
back all those awful memories from lying here as a patient in 56, I’m
so
grateful that 51 years later I could return.
I pray that nobody should ever have to come here as a patient ever

D. Mária: I was here as an assistant-nurse when I was 16 (during WWII from December 1944 to May 1945); the rooms are just as I remember them. Thank you so much for making the tour authentic. 2007. XI.3.
Gy. Gizella: I worked here from 25th October until
the 22nd of
December 1956 as a nurse. Re-entering [the facility] cause my
heart to sink [in sorrow as I recalled those] people severly injured,
lying on the ground and waiting for another’s death so that they’d get

B. Mihály: . I suffered a facial wounds and, towards the end of the Seige. With my head bandaged, I managed to walk into the Sziklakorhaz where because they had working generators [and electricity] they could x-ray my injuries. 2008. IX.
